Pixies Concert

Went and felt awesome at the Pixies the other night in a large modern box called the Tsongas Arena. When you’re listening to a live version of “Tame” on your stereo and you wonder if the screaming is coming at impact or if that feeling that something crazy is going on is really going on, it is (at the show). The Pixies just open their mouths, hardly physically rock out (they mostly smoke and stand) and a thousand people can’t control themselves. Oh my god, that was the best show I have ever been to. I have no experience from their first round of shows, so I don’t know what the hell is going on.

Besides the idea that shows illumine music’s purpose in society, I went to a show in Providence a week ago where Dear Nora and The Blow were younger and extremely sincere – the new indie and punk rock ethos is to make music you can talk about. But paying for music and getting it immediately in the room you’re standing in is worth it and it’s why music is just gonna win.
